New England End of Season Time Standards:

In the New England LSC, time standards for each level of competition are posted on the NE Swimming site for each season. Please refer to the link above for the most up-to-date information.

1. Find the appropriate pool type:

SCY = short course yard, this is the same pool that we practice in at Brandeis. Each lane is 25 yard in length. In the short course season (September to March), all meets are held in a short course yard pool.

短池:25码池,赛季从九月到三月

LCM = long course meter, this is for when the meets are held in a long course meter pool in the May to July season. We have only a few long course pool in the new England area such as Springfield College, MIT and Brown University. End of season Silver and 11-14 Age Group Championship meets are held in LCM pools.

长池:50米池,赛季从四月到八月

2. Find your swimmer’s age group

  1. Typically, the same time standards are held for the following age group 年龄组分类一般为两年:
  2. 10 & under
  3. 11-12
  4. 13-14
  5. 15-18
  6. What it means is that your swimmers are held in the same standards for kids potentially 1 year older than them. For example, your 11-year-old swimmer is competing with 12 year olds. That is why your swimmer is more likely to meet the time standards for higher level meets at even number ages (10, 12, 14 and 18)
  7.  Age: The swimmer’s age is usually determined at the time of the meet. If your swimmer has his/her birthday right before the age group championship, he/she will be held to the time standard at the age of the meet.

Level of age group meets

  1. From the easiest to the hardest to qualify: Bronze, Silver, Gold, Age Group Championship, Eastern Zone Championship, National
  2. In general, at the club level, only the high level swimmers are qualified for the Age Group Championships. There is only 1 meet for the New England region for these swimmers.
  3. Only a few swimmers in New England will qualify at the zone level. They will compete representing New England with other regions in the East.
  4.  Cut time: The meet a week before the first age group championship is usually the last chance to make the cut to each level of meet.

入围标准成绩:参加该冠军赛的资格成绩

Cut off: This means your swimmer is too fast in this event to compete. However, the swimmer can swim as exhibition without getting a reward. The new time can be used to qualify for a higher level meet
